Beach Life: Collier beaches continue to recover during peak tourism season

It’s spring break in Southwest Florida, with tourists and seasonal visitors coming to Collier County to enjoy everything the area has to offer. Hurricane Ian ripped through the Gulf Coast six months ago, but the heavy traffic and long restaurant waits demonstrate that the storm did not deter those wanting to visit what many people call the Paradise Coast. There is one part of the community that has yet to catch a break, though: the beaches, which since the storm have been faced with dangerous debris, sand loss and most recently a red tide outbreak.
