Nancy Iannitelli displays her paintings at her home studio in Naples on Thursday, July 20. The paintings are depictions of people from war-torn or poverty-stricken countries. A project which began with the invasion of Ukraine has branched out to Lebanon, Turkey, Mexico, Zimbabwe and more. She takes small groups on tours of her butterfly garden and her art studio for contributions to her Relief Through Art foundation. Photos by Chris Tilley

Portraits with a passion: Making art a global force for good
The invasion of Ukraine was the beginning of a turning point for Nancy Iannitelli’s art. But the Lely resident didn’t stop with that shift. From March 2022 on, Iannitelli moved from her eclectic blend of fantasy and expressionism to focus on the faces of people in need, changing her arc until today she has a studio that is a veritable slice of the world that is in need, one way or another. And she’s using that art to help those people with her own program, Relief through Art.
