Small Business Saturday, shopping small local businesses rather than big box stores the day after Black Friday, is an initiative to support local shop owners, which in turn helps the community thrive. Started by American Express in 2010, the day is designed to introduce the consumer to area merchants and owners, and encourage shopping locally into the holiday season and throughout the year.
