NAMI Collier County raises $185K at Hope Shines Luncheon
National Alliance on Mental Illness Collier County raised $185,670 at its Hope Shines luncheon Dec. 1 at the Arthrex One ballroom in North Naples. The Naples- based nonprofit provides free mental health support, advocacy and education that inspires resilience and strengthens communities.
Collier Community Foundation grants more than $62M in fiscal year 2023
The Collier Community Foundation awarded $62 million in grants in its 2023 fiscal year to nonprofit agencies and scholarships for secondary education and specialized training. This amount includes $13.6 million in CCF Donor Advised Fund grants, $23.9 million in Agency Fund grants and $7.1 million for the Golden Gate Golf Course affordable housing project. CCF grants were awarded to focus on solutions such as affordable housing. At the former Golden Gate Golf Course, $7.12 million was granted to build Collier’s largest workforce housing site. The project’s first phase consists of 252 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments for essential workers, such as teachers, law enforcement and emergency and health care workers. The second phase will provide 120 one-bedroom apartments for seniors.
Boston Red Sox to raise funds for Golisano Children’s Hospital in 2024
Registration is open for the 31st annual Boston Red Sox event series to benefit Golisano Children’s Hospital in February and March. The first event is the Boston Tee Party on Feb. 15 at The Forest Country Club, which includes an evening of spirited auctions. Bidding opportunities include autographed sports and entertainment memorabilia and luxurious spa and destination packages. The 31st annual Celebrity Golf Classic on Feb. 16 at The Forest Country Club includes a big-league golf tourney featuring Red Sox players, major league greats and sports celebrities. Dinner on the Diamond is March 19 at JetBlue Park and includes a family-friendly event with dinner on the field, Red Sox celebrity appearances and a sports and memorabilia silent auction.
Naples single-tenant building sells for $5.5 million
Naples Lumber purchased a 14,009-square-foot, single-tenant building on 1.86 acres at 68 Industrial Blvd. in Naples from AB Sunsport II LLC for $5.5 million. Adam Bornhorst represented the buyer, and Derek Bornhorst, SIOR, CCIM, Bob Johnston, SIOR, and Jerry Messonnier, SIOR, represented the seller. All advisers are with Lee & Associates Naples-Fort Myers.
Spirit begins nonstop route from RSW to Puerto Rico
Spirit Airlines began nonstop service Dec. 15 from Southwest Florida International Airport to San Juan, Puerto Rico. The four-times-weekly service to and from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport will operate Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays through May 6.
Marco Island building sells for $3 million
Our Daily Bread Food Pantry purchased a 4,069-square-foot building at 1818 San Marco Road on Marco Island from Marco 1818 LLC for $3,025,000. The property last sold for $2.08 million in 2020.
BoA awards $50K grant to SWFL Stable and Attainable Housing Coalition
Bank of America awarded a $50,000 grant to the Southwest Florida Stable and Attainable Housing Coalition to help address the community’s needs related to affordable housing, small business resiliency and neighborhood revitalization. This new investment will go toward sustaining a community-changing initiative by coordinating cross-sector partners to ensure that 80% of Southwest Florida residents spend less than 45% of their income on housing and transportation combined.
Healthcare network receives first major gift for Orangetree health center
Naples philanthropist Jerry Nichols made the first major donation to Healthcare Network’s capital campaign. The contribution will support the construction of the organization’s new 45,000-squarefoot health center in the Orangetree area of Golden Gate Estates, ensuring essential access to affordable health care for the community.
Meals of Hope receives $10,000 grant
Meals of Hope food bank program received a $10,000 grant from the Naples Woman’s Club to purchase food for distribution.
AC Hotel opens in Naples
AC Hotel Naples 5th Avenue welcomed its first guests Dec. 15. The three-story hotel at 455 12th St. comprises 150 rooms, a lobby and a ground-floor cafe, 2,500 square feet of event space, a fitness center, an outdoor rooftop pool and Limón, a signature rooftop restaurant and bar with seating indoors and out. The new hotel is the hospitality component of Naples Square, a mixed-use development master- planned by Wheelock Street Capital and The Ronto Group, which also includes nearly 300 luxury condominium units and a 350-seat performing arts complex.
Club Pilates opens East Naples location
Club Pilates South Naples at 3827 Tamiami Trail E. in East Naples is open. The franchise seeks to help people of all ages and abilities achieve fitness goals through the low-impact, high-result method of reformer Pilates. The routine combines sustained, controlled movements with gentle, low-impact resistance and focuses on breathing patterns, increasing endurance and blood circulation. Owners Lenka Valigurska and Olga Metzlers opened Pure Barre Naples 11 years ago and recently celebrated their two-year anniversary at Club Pilates North Naples. The new location is open 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
Scholarship applications for Foundation of Collier County Medical Society due March 31
The Foundation of Collier County Medical Society announced its latest call for applications for two scholarship award programs—the Dr. William and Nancy Lascheid Memorial Scholarship for Medical Students and the Foundation of CCMS Healthcare Student Scholarships for students enrolled in or accepted to health care degree programs. The deadline for submissions is March 31. The Dr. William and Nancy Lascheid Memorial Scholarship for Medical Students is for eligible Florida residents enrolled in or accepted to medical school who have demonstrated excellence in service to their community. The foundation’s Healthcare Student Scholarships offer awards to eligible Florida residents enrolled in or accepted as students in health care degree programs, such as nursing, physician assistant and physical therapy.
Naples area residential real estate inventory increases 39% in November
Overall inventory and new listings in the Naples area residential real estate market experienced year-over-year increases in November of 39% and 23%, respectively, according to data from the Naples Area Board of Realtors. There were 3,795 pieces of inventory and 1,174 new listings in November, with overall pending sales down 14% and overall closed sales down 6% compared to November 2022. Homes spent an average of 59 days on the market with a median closed price of $580,000.
