Commissioners approve first affordable housing project to receive sales surtax money
Miami-based McDowell Housing Partners is asking the committee for support on its fourth project planned for the county, Ekos on Collier. Its other local projects include Ekos on Santa Barbara, which features 82 workforce housing units to be completed this month, and Ekos Allegro and Ekos Cadenza, which will provide 160 affordable units for seniors and are expected to be completed in 2024. Collier County commissioners have unanimously approved the first workforce affordable-housing project to receive 1-cent sales surtax funds since the fund began in 2019.
