Greek mythology helps explain myth of amateurism
If I remember correctly from my high school world history, Pandora’s Box was an artifact in Greek mythology connected with the myth of Pandora in Hesiod’s circa-700 B.C. poem “Works and Days.” In it, Hesiod related that curiosity led Pandora to open a container left in the care of her husband, thus releasing curses upon mankind.
