The city of Marco Island will be changing its water disinfection process beginning Monday, Sept. 1. Instead of using a combination of chlorine and ammonia, known as chloramines, to disinfect the water, free chlorine will be used — a process recommended by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. The disinfection process ends Sept. 30.
